Teamwork Tuesday: Kaleigh 26HA!!

This week, I have the distinct pleasure of introducing you to.... Princess Kaleigh!!

Kaleigh is a beautiful young lady, going on 5 years old.  Have I mentioned how much I despise that number for my Angels?  That's the age when they're typically transferred out of their baby houses, and into adult mental institutions.  :(  Kaleigh is right there, and, already on her Reece's Rainbow profile are the dreaded words:  Sweet Kaleigh is facing an institution this year. :(

Unfortunately, that's pretty much all that's on her profile.  We don't know a lot about her.  We do know that she's described as calm, and that Kaleigh has Down Syndrome.  That's pretty much it.  We do know more about Kaleigh's Region.  Here's the info:

  • 3 trips
  • 1st trip, Both parents for 7 days
  • Wait 2-3 months for court
  • Both parents travel for 2nd trip for court hearing, 10 days
  • This region does not waive the 30 day wait
  • Only one parent has to make 3rd trip of 7 days
  • Applicants should be no more than 45 years older than the child
  • No family size restrictions
  • Married couples only
  • Total program and travel fees under $35K
For more information about any of these children, and to determine your family’s eligibility and financial preparedness to adopt internationally, please CLICK HERE. This is a GREAT region to adopt from with a wonderful agency partner.  We’ve had many successful adoptions here!

BUT... Kaleigh is on the Angel Tree!!  And Kaleigh has a Warrior!!  Someone who is advocating and fundraising and praying for this sweet, sweet princess!!   One of Kaleigh's fundraisers is with Just Love Coffee, and you can click that link to go, order some amazing, fair trade, organic, AWESOME coffee ('cause, there's just never enough good coffee...), and help raise her grant at the same time!!!

Kaleigh has over $650 in her Grant, with over $500 coming JUST from the Angel Tree!!  But we need to raise that.  She's still $500 from Goal.  So, this week, I'm asking you to pray for Kaleigh.  Prayerfully consider donating to her fund.  And ask yourself, "Is this my baby?  Is my baby girl spending Christmas alone?  Will she spend her birthday alone?  Does she even know when her birthday is?  Is this my princess, to love and cherish, and adore?"  If the answer is yes, contact Reece's Rainbow to find out how you can adopt Kaleigh.  If the answer is no, commit to helping us find Kaleigh's family.

Now you know, what will you do?

Spotlight on... Asher 8W!!!

This little man is SO handsome!!  Isn't he???  His name is Asher, and he's only 3 years old.  Asher has Down Syndrome, and lives in an orphanage in Eastern Europe.   From Asher's Reece's Rainbow page:

Asher is a very sweet, calm, inqusitive boy!  Several photos available.  Single moms welcome!
An additional agency grant of $10,000 may be available to those who *qualify*.
That's it. That's all we've got. But that's NOT all there is to Asher. He's so much more than a short write up and a few pictures.  Asher is  a real, live little boy, who desperately needs a Mama to come and get him.  These are the Region Requirements for Asher:

Our agency partner in this region requires families to be homestudy ready before they can make a formal commitment.   Additional info about each child is available when the home study is complete.   This is a wonderful region, with many successful special needs adoptions, and an agency partner that is *committed* to serving our children.   Sizeable fee reductions are available through the agency directly for the adoption of any child with Down syndrome specifically.
  • 2-3 trips — trip 1 is one week. Trip 2 is one week (if the 30 day waiting period is not waived), then trip 3 is one week. If on trip 2 the waiting period is waived it is 2 weeks (one parent may go home after first week
  • This particular region *often* waives the 30 day wait for special needs, but parents must be prepared to make a 3rd trip
  • Two unrelated children may be adopted on a case by case basis
  • No family size restrictions
  • Mother must not be more than 48 years older than child
  • Fee includes a $500 orphanage donation
  • Married couples and single mothers may apply
  • Total approx cost $30k

Asher has a wonderful warrior, Katy.  Katy is working SO hard on raising funds for Asher's Angel Tree fund with her Etsy shop, Katydidit Crafts, and she's already raised over $200!!  Please help Katy out.  I know her goal is to get Asher to his Angel Tree goal of $1,000, but her DREAM is to see him on the My Family Found Me page.  Can we help?  Please pray over Asher today.  Share this post, and make sure the world sees him, and never, ever forgets.  Prayerfully consider donating to Asher, or... miracle of miracles... are YOU his Mama??

Change his life forever this Christmas.

Now you know, what will you do?

Spotlight on Celine 2H

Isn't Celine beautiful?  This picture is even a new one, updated in July 2012!!  What a sweet, sweet girl!

Celine is a 7 year old girl in Eastern Europe, and she desperately needs our help.  See, she's passed the Horrible Magic Number, and she's facing institutionalization VERY soon.  Like imminently.  Like... now.  We can't leave her there.  We just can't.

A family met her in July, and this is what they had to say:

In July we traveled to meet our daughter for the first time. While we were there we were able to meet Celine. She came up to us and gave me a hug and stroked the side of my face. She had 2 braids with big bows on the ends and she looks to have thinned out some. She looked very cute and healthy. When we were leaving she blew us kisses goodbye. The institution she is in is a very good one but the orphanage director is very excited to have children adopted from his orphanage. He has said that even though he loves the children he knows they would do so much better with a family.
She sounds like a beautiful, beautiful princess.  What a sweet, sweet spirit she seems to have!!

Here's the great part about adopting Celine--- SHE'S NEARLY FULLY FUNDED!!  Seriously!!  Celine has a grant of--

Wait for it...

$28,057.40!!  FOR REAL!!!  AND, she's on the Angel Tree, so her grant is STILL GROWING!!

Why is this sweet one still waiting???  Is there no one to love a child of 7???  Here is the Region Requirements for Celine:

  • 3 trips are required
  • Both parents for first trip, about one week
  • 2-3 month wait for the judge to appoint the court hearing
  • Both parents travel for 2nd trip, approximately 7 days
  • After the 30 day waiting period imposed by the judge only one parent need to travel for the 3rd trip to pick-up the child, the length of this trip is 13 to 17 days depending upon the orphanage, district and the day of the week that you pick up the child. After which a minimum of 3 to 4 days is required in Moscow to obtain the child's visa and register at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • Applicants should be no more than 45 years older than the child
  • Single heterosexual women may adopt; approvals on a case by case basis
  • This region prefers families with no more than 4 at home.
  • Total program and travel fees- approx $35-40k
  • Fee includes a $1000 orphanage donation
  • One or two children can be adopted at the same time; approvals on a case by case basis
  • Judges pay close attention to a family's income level
  • No criminal background
  • No history of mental health concerns (depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar, or other mental health issues)
We have an AMAZING agency partner serving the children in this region.  They are a US licensed and Hague and Russia-accredited agency with a strong track record of outstanding customer service and attention to detail.  This is a great program with easy travel and very accommodating, especially for single mothers! These children are located in a major city, with no cross-country travel to remote regions required. Please read carefully through   to determine your eligibility and financial preparedness to adopt internationally.   You can also inquire about adopting or donating for these children from that page. Requirements for Canadian families may vary, please read the Canadian Info page for more information.

Celine's Warrior, Leah, is a good one!  And she would LOVE your help praying for Celine, showing her off to your friends, and reaching her Angel Tree goal.  Come see her blog at Life's Beautiful Butterflies to contact her and find out more!

Now you know!  What will you do?

Are You Considering Adoption?

It's a scary thought.  Adopting.  There are so many variables... so many unknowns.  And then, of course, there are the attacks.  Ask any adoptive family, if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong during your adoption.  The Devil does not like it when we adopt.  Think you're not strong enough to adopt?

Guess what?

You're right.

Carter doesn't need someone who is strong enough to deal with his needs.  He doesn't need someone who has it all together.  He just needs someone who God is whispering to, and has the courage to say Yes.  Yes, I will take him.  I will look past the big, scary diagnosis.  I will look at the child, the big brown eyes, the wondering stare.  And then, when it gets hard... I will look to Christ.

Yes.  I will go.

Will you be that person?  Will you save this one.  This Precious One?  This tiny one?

God has said "Go!"  Will you say "Here I am, Lord.  And I'm going."

Teamwork Tuesday--Angelina!!

Introducing today's Teamwork Tuesday Angel of the Week...  Angelina!!

Angelina is a BEAUTIFUL 4 year old girl with Down Syndrome.  She also has a heart condition, and really, really needs to see a cardiologist badly.  From Angelina's Reece's Rainbow page:

Girl, Born March 2008
Diagnosis: Down syndrome
This beautiful muffin, look how she has grown!   She does have a heart condition  and will need to seek a cardiologist and surgery once home.    She needs a family ASAP!

Angelina has been waiting WAY too long.  She is already 4 1/2 now and has likely been transferred.  You can see how tiny and frail she is.  PLEASE help us find her family!
Additional photos available!  SINGLE MOMS WELCOME.

But don't dispair!!  Because Angelina has a Secret Weapon... in the form of her AMAZING Warrior, Deb!!  Deb has raised Angelina's grant to a wonderful $5539!!!  And she's still going-- she's raised over $600 for Angelina just since the Angel Tree began less than 2 weeks ago!!

Deb has some really wonderful and amazing fundraisers going, helping to ensure that when Angelina's family finds her, money will NOT be the deciding factor!!  Here is a list of Angelina's fundraisers, which you can also find by clicking on the Intentional Shopping tab at the top of the page:

Love Leaving Legacy on Etsy and Facebook (NEW items added to the Facebook page today--11/13!!!)

You have the option of stating when you’d like your wreath to arrive and you pay through the website.
In the check out process under “Extra order information” there is a drop down menu with a list of seller names. In order for the Wielhouwer Kid Bunch to get credit and raise the funds for Angelina 3g, please select “Wielhouwer L 5084” as the affiliate for whom to get the credit. (Ends 11/18, so HURRY!!)

Please commit to praying this week for Angelina and her Warrior, Deb.  Prayer is Powerful, and we serve a VERY BIG GOD!  And share share share!  The more people who see Angelina, the better chance she has!  And, finally, as always, prayerfully consider donating to Angelina.

As a reminder, anyone who donates $35 or more to one of our Reece's Rainbow Angel Tree children during the Angel Tree, gets a BEAUTIFUL Christmas ornament to hang on your tree. Don't miss out!

Teamwork Tuesday: Abbott!!

This week, we bring to you the first of our Christmas Angels-- Abbott!!

Abbott is a sweet 5 year old boy in Eastern Europe with Down Syndrome.  He's already reached that horrible Magic Number, and has been transferred to an adult mental institution.  Oh, my heart!  Look at those sweet, sweet eyes.  Here's what we know from Reece's Rainbow about Abbott:

Abbott is a child with whom everyone falls in love immediately! He is a very kind and very cheerful child! He easily finds common language with adults and children. Abbott understands how to properly play with the different kind of toys and loves to play. He is not speaking yet but he is easily understood.  Abbott is an active child.  He likes to run, walk and see new places.
Recently he has been transferred to an institution and nobody knows how he is now.

Abbott is blessed, though.  He has this AMAZING Christmas Warrior, Frankie.  Frankie is a true saint, and she's got some wonderful fundraisers going on for Abbott.

OK, first, Frankie has an online shop called Hooked for Hope, where she donates a MINIMUM of 25% of every sale to Abbott.  Let me tell you, I have one of Frankie's products, an adorable little gnome.  She's good!

Frankie is also having a run/walk-a-thon called Trekking for Abbott.  You can pledge per mile that Frankie runs or walks, and she's doing a REALLY good job with keeping up on it!

Also, Abbott has a matching grant right now!!!  When he reaches $438 in his Angel Tree fund, an extra $200 will be sent in!!  Praise God!!

Please pray this Christmas Season about donating to Abbott.  Like all of our Christmas Angels, his Warrior, Frankie, has committed to raising a minimum of $1,000 for him.  This is a huge undertaking.  Reece's Rainbow offers a beautiful Christmas Ornament for your tree when you send in $35 or more, so please, be generous!!

As we stalk our TVs right now and obsess over exit polls, let's not forget, there are real kids out there who really need us, and they need us now.  We can't afford to ignore them, even for a moment.

What is Your Focus?

Too often, we as the church focus on the wrong things.  I think this is ESPECIALLY true this election year.  We're focused... but is it on what Christ tells us to be focused on?  What does He want from His Bride?

What are YOU going to focus on this year?  Will it be the Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas debacle?  Will you be protesting business because they don't acknowledge YOU and YOUR faith?

Or will you chose to die to yourself, reflect Christ, and show Him to everyone?  Will you SAY you're a Christian... loudly?  Or will you SHOW Christ through your humble love to every child of God?

You have a choice.  Now that you've heard, you've seen... you can't not hear.  You can't not see.

You can only ignore.

Christmas for Carter Fundraisers!!

OK, I know you all are just waiting with baited breath to know ALL that we have going on to support Carter this Christmas Season.  SO... without further ado... Here we go!!

On November 1-13, we'll be hosting an auction at our Facebook Page.  PLEASE come like the page and check us out!!  We're still accepting donations, so if you have something you'd like to include, send it in!!

On December 1-7, we'll be hosting a giveaway here on the blog!!  Stay tuned for that!!

From NOW until November 30, we're having a fundraiser with Tastefully Simple!  My beautiful Sister-in-Love, Aryn, is a Tastefully Simple consultant, and is VERY generously donating ALL of her commission to Carter!! You can join our Facebook Event Page, and then order at Aryn's Tastefully Simple Site.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be sure to put in the Address 2 line of your shipping REECE'S CARTER FUNDRAISER, so Aryn knows that the order is for Carter!!

Are you a coffe-aholic?  I so am.  My kids tease me MERCILESSLY.  (They seem to conveniently ignore the fact that they're the REASON I need coffee!!)  Well, I'm picky about my coffee, so I bet you are, too!  Head over to our Christmas for Carter Coffee Shop, sponsored by (local to me!) Just Love Coffee, for organic, fair trade, awesome coffee!   There is a huge variety of coffee (including green coffee--TOO COOL!!), apparel, mugs, music, and equipment to help you brew the perfect cup!

There is nothing better than hot coffee on a cold morning.  NOTHING!!  So definitely check out the Christmas for Carter Coffee Shop!

OK, up next, for that super fun family night, we've got Fun Pasta Fundraising!  These adorably shaped pasta are the PERFECT thing for a cold winter's night in!  With all types of themes, from snowmen to girls' night out and even collegate teams (PERFECT for Saturday afternoon football!), everyone is going to LOVE these!

OK, that's what I have going on so far.  I'll add more as we get more going on.  Now, some reminders for Angel Tree:  Our goal is to raise AT LEAST $1,000 FOR CARTER.  You can help us do that a number of ways.

1)  You can shop through one of the above links.
2)  You can donate directly at Carter's Reece's Rainbow page.
3)  You can send a check in to Reece's Rainbow for Carter.  (PLEASE note in the memo line:  Carter 14G)

Now, you are welcome to donate WHATEVER amount you are able to!  God takes your widow's mite and adds it to my widow's mite, and together, we get Carter home!  If you donate $35 or more, Reece's Rainbow will send you this BEAUTIFUL ornament with Carter's picture on the other side!

You have the option of getting an ornament with every $35 you donate.  So, for $70, you can get 2, for $105, you can get 3!!  How awesome is that??  Also, you can donate for someone else, and have the ornament sent directly to them!

All right, we've covered Carter, but here's my boggle... see, I sorta kinda promised a couple of friends that I would help them fundraise for their Angels, too.  AND... both of my Guardian Angel kids got voted on the Angel tree, too!!  PRAISE GOD!  I can't very well leave Kate and Owen behind, now, can I?  So, here's what we're going to do:

When Carter reaches the magic number in his Fund of $2,729 (which will be his $1,000), I'm going to open up all of my fundraisers to Kristie, the Angel of the friend I promised to help.

When Kristie's grant reaches a minimum of $628 (that's $500 more than she has at the time I write this), I will open it up to Owen.

When Owen reaches $3,656.50 ($500 more than now), I will open it up to Kate.

When Kate has $2,243.70, we'll open it up to Anna.

Got all that?  So, the long and short of it is, the sooner we hit our goals, the more kids we can help!

We can do this!!  Let's rock the Christmas Season!!

Teamwork Tuesday: Wesley!!

This is Wesley.  Wesley is 12 years old, and lives in Asia.  Six years ago, at only 6 years old, his family abandoned him.  We don't know why.  Perhaps they couldn't afford to care for him any longer.  Perhaps his medical needs were too great.  Perhaps they were simply tired of the stares.  See, Wesley has Albinism (an inherited condition where the child has little to no pigment in their skin, eyes, and hair).  He looks different.  He also has vision issues (horizontal nystagmus of both eyes, white iris, transparent cornea, both eye ground cannot be seen clearly).  So, I'm guessing he squints a lot.  It looks like he does in this picture.

I'm going to go with the theory that his parents adored him, and just couldn't take care of him the way he needed to.  It makes me feel better.  It helps me sleep at night.  I have no idea if that's the truth.  I pray it is.

Wesley is available to be adopted.  From his Reece's Rainbow page:

Wesley was abandoned when he was 6 years old and he has been on the list since 2008. He has a gentle temperment, is polite and sensible, and gets along well with others. He likes to play games with kids outdoors. He likes watching cartoons, listening to stories with peers, playing games with kids outdoors, likes playing balls and toy cars best.   He especially prefers toys that make sounds.

Additional pictures and information available.
He sounds like the sweetest boy, doesn't he?  Unfortunately, his grant is rather low.  Only $252.50

We need to get that up.  Kids that look different have a harder time getting adopted.  Older kids have an older time getting adopted.  Kids from Asia are too often the last picked.  Wesley has some strikes against him starting out.  Let's change that!  Let's give him one awesome, solid advantage!

My friend Sandra is hosting a giveaway right now for Wesley, the Precious One Giveaway.  She has some beautiful, awesome prizes.  I encourage you to go check it out.  Pray for Wesley!  Pray for Wesley's family!  And prayerfully donate to his fund.  Let's get this Precious One found!

Please vote for our own Kate!!

Hi everyone!!  Voting is up in the My Own Little Starfish Contest for the last time!  As a reminder, the 1st and 2nd place winners get a spot on this year's Reece's Rainbow Angel Tree-- usually reserved only for the orphans with Down Syndrome, 0-5 years old.  So this is HUGE for our older kids!  This week's final voting is for the HIV+ kids, 10 years old and up.  And guess what....

THAT'S RIGHT!!  My beautiful Kate is up for nomination!!  YEA KATE!!

Please take 2 seconds to come and vote!  There's no registering, there's no forms to fill out.  Simply click THIS LINK, and click the star that says "vote" over Kate's picture.  (It's the same picture you see above, and Kate is listed as #5.)  You only have to vote once.

Teamwork Tuesday--Karen and Chrystyna

Have you met these two beautiful sisters yet?  It wouldn't surprise me if you had, they have an amazing warrior!!

Chrystyna is a beautiful 10 year old girl with developmental difficulties and delays.  It's very possible she has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  She has beautiful brown eyes and brown hair, and was described in September from a family who met her as "beautiful, and full of potential."  Her mother's parental rights were terminated, and there is no biological father known.

Chrystyna had been institutionalized, but by the grace of God, has been moved out of the institution to a place where she's getting educated and is well cared for.  The reports are that the difference in the girls who are transferred to this facility is amazing, and we're so happy to know that Chrystyna is there!!

Chrystyna has an older sister named Karen.  Karen is simply beautiful, but is 16 years old.  She's able to be adopted, but only with Chrystyna (Chrystyna can also be adopted alone).  It scares me to think what's going to happen to Karen when she's out on her own.  Karen has no special needs.  Isn't she absolutely gorgeous?

These two beautiful sisters need a chance.  Chrystyna only has $1,187 in her adoption grant right now. That's a good start!!  But it's only a start...  Please consider donating to Chrystyna's fund, and pray over these girls this week!  Let's rally together to find their Forever Families!!

AND... DON'T FORGET to VOTE DAILY for Reece's Rainbow in the Cultivate Wines The Give contest!!  It can make all of the difference in the WORLD for 10 special orphans!!
