Ten For Orphans June: GAVIN!!!

Have you heard of this awesome group?  Let me give you a quick history, since I don't think I've introduced them to you on my blog yet.

Ten for Orphans is a project put together by an amazing couple who realized that my widow's mite + your widow's mite = a child coming home to their family.  They, like me, don't believe money should ever stand in the way of an adoption.  I love these people.  They truly have God's heart for the orphan.  The premise is, if 2500 people commit to giving just $10 a month to one specific orphan, then we can fully fund 12 families a year to bring their babies home!!  It's a great idea.  It's an amazing project.  I've personally seen miracles worked with it.  You definitely want to get involved.  This is their page, and you can like them on Facebook and follow on Twitter as well.

OK, so that's Ten for Orphans.  Let me tell you now what happened with them this month.  I told you, I've seen MIRACLES.  So, there was this amazing family who wanted to adopt a little girl, Taylor.  Their paperwork was done, from a previous adoption that didn't end up happening, and they were ready to travel. Like, now.  They got their dates IMMEDIATELY after committing to Taylor.  Which is awesome, but provided a money problem.  So, here they go, fundraising away... and they realized that their travel dates are smack dab in the middle of the European Cup.  Which raises the price of pretty much everything, from plane tickets to cabs to food to hotel.  Like, a lot.  Like $10k or more.  What a blow.  They were the June family for Ten for Orphans though, and, guess what?  With some help from a couple of matching grants, they're FULLY FUNDED!! In like 3 days.  3 DAYS!!! HOW AMAZING!!

So, Ten for Orphans has moved on, and we've got a new family to sponsor!!!  I would love to introduce you to....

Let me tell you a bit about this amazing family.  Here's their bio from Project Hopeful:

The Thomas family consists of Andy, a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, his wife, Lindsay, who is an RN, and their three beautiful children. Andy has been serving for 12 years now. As a infantry man, he has seen his share of deployments. He has seen firsthand the needs of children in other nations, and his experiences have impacted the family’s decision to adopt internationally. He is a caring compassionate man and has been married to Lindsay for 10 years. Lindsay has been employed in the medical field for 8 years. She currently works as an RN with elderly patients in their homes. They both love children and feel that children are truly a blessing from God.
Together, they have wanted to adopt for many years. When they came across Gavin's photo and information, they knew he was meant to be their son. With Andy's medical coverage, Lindsay’s nursing experience, and a warm loving family, Gavin will be loved and cherished as one of their own. Gavin will also have three siblings to play with. Andy and Lindsay have a 9 month old son named Tyler, a 3 year old little princess named Kaitlyn, and a big brother Bradley, who is 8 years old. Their children are already planning bedroom arrangements and Christmas presents for their new brother!
Let me just say, I love these people. I know first hand, a military salary is NOT a lot of money. Period.  And I know a LOT of military families that are adopting these kids.  These people have my heart and my help to bring their little boy home.  So, without further adieu, let's meet their little boy!!

This is Gavin.  Here's a bit about his situation:

Gavin is a charming little 6 year old boy. His great big smile will lighten up any room. He lives in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. He is in desperate need for proper medical care that can only be found in the United States. GavinGavin is a charming little 6 year old boy. His great big smile will lighten up any room. Gavin has one kidney and that kidney is enlarged and barely functioning. He has a permanent catheter draining from his kidney. He is 6 years old but the size of a 3 year old, due to the seriousness of his illness. He needs a kidney, proper nutrition and most of all LOVE. Wow. What a little trooper. He so needs to be home.  But, fundraising as a military family isn't easy.  Which is where Ten for Orphans steps in.  You can go to the Ten for Orphans page, and donate directly there.  We're still $21K short for getting the Thomas family fully funded.

Your widow's mite and my widow's mite, just $10, will get this little boy home to the treatment he so desperately needs.  It will help him heal and grow.  It will bring him home.

Now, as special incentive, the Thomas Family is hosting a giveaway for TODAY!!  Donate TODAY, and get entered to win a $50 gift card from The Cheesecake Factory!!  Just head over to their blog and leave a comment!

Please help us get Gavin home.  He needs his Mama so desperately.
